The Swedish initiative for green steel is commendable from a climate perspective but risks becoming a significant loss venture. To make the calculations add up, extremely low electricity prices and increased willingness to pay from customers are required. Private investors are expected to take risks, but the public sector must not gamble with the economy at stake.
CERE professors Bengt Kriström and P-O Johansson write about the green steel production endeavours in Northern Sweden in DN Debatt. See link: https://www.dn.se/debatt/sverige-rusar-i-full-fart-mot-var-generations-stalkris/
